A useful comment deserves a useful reply.
Your Reel explains a workout, a checklist or a business shortcut. People ask for the resource in the comments. Answering each person yourself turns a successful post into another job.
OpenReply is open-source software for Instagram comment-to-DM campaigns. You choose a keyword and a resource, then match the campaign to a post. The project includes multiple professional accounts, campaign click tracking and a follow step. Its software is MIT licensed; hosting and any optional services are separate costs.
This is the REPLY resource from our Reel: the tool, setup guidance and the AI agent prompt below.
Give the viewer a next step they can use.
Fitness coach: the plan behind the video
Show one exercise or explain a training mistake. Offer a short plan with the sets, rest times and an easier variation. A keyword such as PLAN tells you which resource they requested.
Service business: a checklist before the call
Explain a common problem customers bring to you. Offer a checklist that helps them gather the right details before they book. The guide should solve a small problem even if they never become a customer.
Creator: the process behind the result
Show the finished result and explain the key steps. Send a template or a prompt that helps the viewer try those steps with their own material. Avoid making the download a sales pitch disguised as a resource.
Set up your first campaign.
- Choose a professional Instagram account. Use a Business or Creator account. OpenReply needs a real installation; its demonstration dashboard does not run campaigns for you.
- Prepare your hosting and sign-in email. The web app, always-on worker, PostgreSQL and Redis work together. Give the installation a public HTTPS URL and configure email so you can sign in.
- Connect through your own Meta app. Follow the official direct-Meta setup, configure the callback and webhook, enable the required permissions and subscriptions, and connect the account you intend to use. A paid provider is optional.
- Build one small campaign. Pick a keyword, the exact post and a guide URL. Write an opening message that invites a tap, then a follow prompt and a resource message.
- Test before promoting it. Use another authorized account to check the comment, opening DM, button interaction and resource delivery. Keep the campaign inactive until the intended mapping and messages are ready.
Use the current official instructions for installation commands and environment settings.
A follow gate should actually check the follow.
For MaiaOS resource posts, the rule is simple: follow first, then unlock the guide. A button labelled “I’m following” alone is not proof. The system checks the account’s follow status before releasing the link.
The current upstream README says its gate sends the link when Instagram returns no follow status. Our MaiaOS installation keeps that link locked instead. If you need the same rule, ask your agent to inspect the installed behaviour and verify that unknown or failed checks hold the resource. The prompt below includes that requirement.
The opening DM and follow prompt should contain no resource URL. Make the final resource message short enough that the guide button is easy to find.
Let your AI agent help with the setup.
Fill in the brackets, then give this brief to an agent that can inspect your project and help with your hosting. It includes the exact-post mapping and the strict follow gate we use.
Help me set up an Instagram comment-to-DM resource campaign using OpenReply. Instagram professional account: [my handle] Hosting I already have: [provider or VPS; say none if unknown] Public domain or URL: [my URL] Reel/post: [exact post URL, or say not published yet] Keyword: [my comment keyword] Resource destination: [the guide or download URL] What people receive: [one clear sentence] Use https://github.com/diwenne/openreply and its current official setup documentation. Inspect the current release and my existing installation before changing anything. Prefer my own Meta app; do not sign me up for a paid connection provider. Explain any hosting or email costs before I commit to them. Ask for the missing account and hosting details, then: 1. Prepare an isolated installation with the web app, always-on worker, PostgreSQL, Redis, HTTPS and working sign-in email. Preserve unrelated apps and databases. Store secrets in private environment configuration; do not print them or ask me to paste them into chat. 2. Guide me through my Meta app, professional-account connection, exact callback URLs, required permissions and comments/messages/messaging_postbacks subscriptions. Tell me which steps I must perform in my account. Do not claim authorization or live delivery based only on a connection badge. 3. Prepare a campaign for the exact account, exact post and keyword. Keep it inactive until I approve activation. If the post is not published yet, leave the media ID empty; never choose the newest post or enable a wildcard. 4. Always enable the follow gate. Send an opening DM with an interaction button and no resource link. Ask non-followers to follow and check again. Deliver the resource only after Meta confirms they follow. If follow status is unavailable or errors, keep the link locked. Inspect the installed code: if it sends on unknown status, propose and test a small correction rather than calling it a verified gate. 5. Make duplicate comments and button taps safe. Check that the keyword on this exact post sends this exact resource and cannot send another campaign's link. Before activation, show me the final messages, destination, account/post mapping and checks. After approval, test using an authorized separate account. Verify the opening DM, non-follower hold, follower unlock and one resource delivery. Report actual results and any blocked check. Give me a short maintenance and rollback guide.
Replace the brackets. Keep credentials in private configuration.
Before your first post.
Is it completely free?
The OpenReply software is free. Your hosting, email service and any optional connection provider can have their own costs. Using your own Meta app avoids adding a paid connection-provider subscription.
Can one keyword send different guides?
In the MaiaOS workflow, each campaign is tied to its exact account, post and keyword. That lets two posts use the same word while delivering different guides. Keep wildcard campaigns off when you need this separation.
What should I check after publishing?
Confirm the campaign is attached to the actual Instagram media ID, the follow gate is still enabled and the resource button opens the intended guide. Check real delivery logs when someone reports a missing DM.
PUT THE FOLLOW-UP TO WORK
Make the resource worth asking for.
MaiaOS connects the content, the useful guide and the follow-up. Tell us the repeated task you want help with.
